Making your own hummus is incredibly easy. Here’s a quick recipe that uses a blender or food processor to whip up some fresh hummus in less than 10 minutes.
- 2 cups cooked black beans (or one 15-oz can of black beans, drain, rinsed, and mixed with a spritz of fresh lemon juice and a pinch of sea salt)
- 1/2 tsp minced garlic
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp tahini
- 1 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 1/4 tsp sea salt
- 1/4 tsp paprika
- 1/8 tsp cayenne
- 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro (optional)
Combine all of the ingredients in a food processor and process until smooth. Do a FASS (Fat, Acid, Sweet, Salt) check and add a pinch or two of salt if needed to balance out the lemon. Serve garnished with cilantro (optional).
